Plz refer to the papers of Prof Gurjeet Kaur (Jammu University)
In most of her papers, shd has used the control variables

2. Don't write the query in someone's post. Always use the option of New topic for the new question. You can do this by writing to dataanaly...@googlegroups.com
3. It’s better to give a proper subject to your post/query. It'll help others while searching.
4. Never write Open-ended queries. This group intends to help research scholars, NOT TO WORK FOR THEM.
5. Never write words like URGENT in your posts. People will help when they are free.
6. Never upload any information about National Seminars/Conferences. Send such information
in personal emails and feel free to share any RESEARCH-related information.
7. No Happy New Year, Happy Diwali, Happy Holi, Happy Birthday, Happy Anniversary, etc. allowed in this group.
8. Asking or sharing Research Papers is NOT ALLOWED.
9. You can share your questionnaire only once.

No, control var and moderator are not the same.
I discussed this point a few days or months ago.

So, I invite members to explain their understanding on this topic.

Statistically speaking, both control variables and moderators are modelled as independent variables in a regression equation. However, their interpretation is altogether very different.

In moderation, you try to assess the interaction effect (let's say PERCEIVED ORGANIZATIONAL SUPPORT & WORK LIFE BALANCE on JOB SATISFACTION). Moderators can be categorical as well. However, when the moderator is categorical, you need to perform MULTI GROUP ANALYSIS (MGA).
A Moderator usually explains the boundary condition in the the relationship between 2 variables will either increase or decrease. Moderators usually answers the WHEN Question.

However, in control variables you try to reduce the impact of confounding variables on the dependent variable. Usually, in literature you will find that categorical variables such as GENDER, QUALIFICATION, DESIGNATION etc are controlled for. Controls can also be a metric variable as well.

Hope it helps.

CV are the one whose effect we wish to eliminate from the model, hence, we use Hierarchical Regression.
Mod var is an one whose effect we check for the relation of IDV and DV.
