ITem to Total Correlation

 Sir

       I am working on Scale development .   I need to calculate Item to Total correlation in the first step  of scale development given by Chuchill.  Please guide me  how  to Calculate  Item to Total Correlation. I have five broad Construct and Total 35 Items in my scale initially.

Dear Dr Vijay

Open SPSS and click on Analyze->Scale-Reliability Analysis

Send the items of a construct to Righ hand side pane

Click on Statistics-> Scale if items deleted

Click on Continue->OK

You'll get Item to Total Correlation.

Item to total correlation is one mechanism of ascertaining your Reflective Construct.

It is used to check whether an individual item/statement is fitting in that construct or not?
