Need Guidance on ESG Score Availability and Calculation

Dear All,

For my research, I require ESG scores of Indian companies. However, due to current government regulations, I am unable to access ESG scores from Bloomberg for Indian firms beyond 2023. I would appreciate any insights on alternative databases that still provide ESG data after 2023.

If no such database is available, would it be advisable to calculate ESG scores independently by formulating an ESG index? If I use a pre-existing ESG index, would I still need to get it validated? Additionally, Will it cost me so much time to create an ESG index and get it validated then compute ESG scores for hundreds of companies?

Is changing my research area a more viable option? Please guide me on this.

Hope you all are doing well..

I'm new in research and I also have the same concern. I want to work on ESG area but as of my knowledge, it is difficult to get ESG scores. Only in bloomberg this data is available but from past one or more years the Scores isn't there.

So please let us know, should we proceed with that topic or not. And if data is available, then from which database we can access.
