Dear Neeraj sir and other members
I am new to the group. It's my first question; I apologize if this has been previously answered; I searched in the chats but still had doubt.
I guess ten times the number of samples is the general rule of thumb for doing CFA. However, I'm not sure about the sample size. If I want to conduct a SEM (would be doing EFA and CFA; with a cross-sectional design) to test the theoretical model of a study that includes one predictor variable (let's say 5 items), one DV (20 items), three mediators (let's say, each measure has 10 each; 10 * 3 = 30), and three moderators (let's say, each measure has 15 each; 15*3 = 45). Now the question- Whether the sample size in this situation should be at least 10 times the total number of items (1000) or 10 times the study's maximum item of a measure, in this case, 200 (20 * 10).
