Respected sir and members,

I hope you are doing well.

I am writing to seek your guidance regarding the structuring of my research work. I am currently using the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) as the theoretical foundation for my study; however, I have not included all TAM constructs explicitly within my research objectives.

In this context, I am uncertain whether my study should be strictly objective-based or if it is acceptable to proceed with a conceptual framework-based approach where not all constructs are directly reflected in the objectives.

For your reference, I have attached a document that includes my research objectives, conceptual framework, and survey schedule. I kindly request you to review it and advise whether my current approach is appropriate or if any modifications are required.

I would greatly appreciate your suggestions on:

Whether all TAM constructs should be aligned with specific research objectives, or
If it is methodologically acceptable to include some constructs only within the conceptual framework and analysis.

Your guidance will help me ensure that my research design is methodologically sound and academically robust.

Thank you for your time and support.

Kind regards,
Manisha,

Dear Manisha

Plz refer to Prof. Raja Sankaran's webpage where he explains the 4 types of extensions in an existing model: Dr. Raja Sankaran - Types of Extension (google.com)

Here the authors developed a new theoretical framework combining 4 theories

It appears that your work is very similar. So I advise you to combine various theories and develop a new theoretical framework for your work.

Best wishes

Thank you, Prof. Neeraj,

Manisha,

You can also refer to my research paper wherein I have developed a conceptual model using 2 factors from TAM, 4 dimensions from Brand Equity (Aaker model), and other factors like Trust, Satisfaction, Ubiquity from other models.

It is perfectly fine to include a few factors from existing models based on the context of your study (but you should have/provide a rationale for adapting only a few)

Thank you for your valuable suggestion regarding the development of a new theoretical framework.

With due respect, I would like to clarify that my current research objectives and conceptual framework are specifically designed based on the selected variables, which are not addressed in the previously mentioned study. While I have adopted the TAM model as a base, I have modified it by incorporating additional constructs. Following objectives and conceptual framework of research work

Intention to Use Solar Rooftops for Cooking: A Study of Rural Households in Haryana

Objectives of the Study

The prime objective of this study is to examine the intention to use solar rooftops for cooking among rural households in Haryana, India.

The other objectives of the study are as follows:

I.         To examine the impact of environmental consciousness on the intention to use solar cooking.

II.         To analyse the probable impact of technology readiness on the intention to use solar-based cooking.

III.         To evaluate the impact of government initiatives on the intention to use solar-based cooking.
