Let's discuss the
Conditional Indirect Effect specifically regarding its application in moderated mediation using SmartPLS.
In basic terms, a conditional indirect effect occurs when the strength or direction of an indirect effect (the path from an independent variable to a dependent variable through a mediator) changes depending on the level of another variable, known as a moderator.
For example, consider a study on how [Independent Variable, e.g., Stress] impacts [Dependent Variable, e.g., Job Performance] through [Mediator, e.g., Burnout]. A conditional indirect effect would exist if the impact of [Stress] on [Job Performance] via [Burnout] is significantly stronger for [Moderator, e.g., Employees with low social support] than it is for those with high social support.
