Dear Friends

Often there is confusion between the two terms  Cronbach Alpha and Composite Reliability
I tried to explain the difference between the two by the manual calculations:

In MetaSEM, during attenuation correction, can we use CR if the Cronbach Alpha value is not given for any construct?

I afraid No.
Alpha denoted the reliability means the coefficient of internal consistency when asked the same point again & again.
Hence it is used in the attenuation formula.
But CR is the part of validity.

Dear Sir, 

I have a little doubt. Plz, help me in this regard.

Here, I am sharing three papers (1st,2nd, 3rd) in which:
  • 1st paper suggests that coefficient alpha and composite reliability values might be used interchangeably when correcting validity coefficients or effect sizes in meta-analyses and 2nd paper has cited the 1st one. (highlighted in pdf file)
  • 3rd paper says if the exiting studies do not report the Cronbach’s alpha coefficients or CR coefficients, but report an overall Cronbach’s alpha coefficient with a value that higher than 0.7, then it can be considered to the same as each element’ reliability. (highlighted in pdf file)
my question is which one is the best to approach/use?

I've read these papers.
CR is not a substitute or alternative to Cronbach alpha. But in Statistics, we do work a lot on approximation.
That's why you'll find paper to convert beta in r or use CR in place or Alpha.
 So, first priority is to work on the actual statistics, in case you're not able to find that then use these by citing these papers.
