Role summary
The Tableau Specialist would support projects where Tableau was the BI tool of choice by providing draft designs and iterative designs for visualizations and dashboards built with Tableau. Drafting can happen in another tool, but once drafts are approved, they should be developed further in Tableau in an iterative approach. We usually iterate in 1-2 week cycles where you would work independently and check-in with the project lead as needed between deliverables. In some cases you would work directly with clients, and in others you would work directly with a project lead who collects requirements from clients.
Skills needed for this role include:
Understanding of graphic design principles including:
Visual hierarchy
Selection and use of color
Layout and basic elements of design
Familiar with advanced Tableau functionality (such as creating related dashboards with complex actions and interactions and Level of Detail expressions)
Ability to communicate design recommendations and choices to non-designers
Ability to describe data structure and format to achieve specific visualization results
Creative visual problem solving
Familiarity with other visualization or BI tools is a plus
We work remotely and communicate primarily via Slack, email, and video conferencing.
