The Role

Data digging: Have an understanding of open data networks and practical ability issuing and chasing up FOI requests. Sift through client data / topic area to quickly ascertain the integrity, present overviews in the form of a data / story map and outline and present actionable next steps to meet the objectives of the brief.

Representing data: Using a range of popular native tools most notably Tableau and D3 to represent data in charts to depict trends / stories in data in its simplest form as part of the preparation or client buy in phase.

Storytelling: To be able to collaborate with a small team of 4-6 colleagues to quickly generate ideas in the form of content angles and non linear visual storytelling. Must be able to produce simple topline sketches to demonstrate concepts.

Communicating: To support management with new client pitches in the form of industry insight, data insight and to present data angles within meetings to complement other team member areas and help inform clients as to best practice.

Produce and manage editorial content for a range of different topics for infogr8’s online presence.

To build relationships with key bloggers, journo’s, reporters, editors and data vis community.

To communicate daily in order to discuss ideas, trends, information to ascertain interest in specific topic areas and follow up in order to support media distribution across internal and external projects.


Role Requirements

You have:

Graduated with a degree in Journalism.
1 year min. journalism experience on a news desk / agency / similar environment.
Experience producing charts having plotted data using Tableau and D3.
A portfolio of proof showing proven story writing and content angle ability.
You will be a social commentator within the data journalism space collaborating with others to produce things in your spare time.
An insatiable thirst for knowledge, challenge, variety, learning, and innovation.
You exude positivity, energy and a need to ‘ship’.
