I'm looking for someone awesome to join the developer relations team at Observable as a community manager. See full job posting.

Observable helps everyone make sense of the world with data.
We're building the destination for data visualization: the place online where you can create, collaborate, and learn. Create expressive visualizations, right in the browser. Observable is always-live, always-editable with data flow like a spreadsheet. Click open any cell to see raw inputs, check assumptions, and see how it works. Anyone can collaborate in real time. You can fork, suggest, import, merge, and more with our growing community of data explorers.

As community manager, you will help build and grow the Observable community. You will oversee our community forum, developing the community by participating in discussions, and managing all community communications. You will work closely with the Observable team to understand best practices and coordinate with training and support to promote those best practices to users.

You will have the opportunity to generate content to assist with educating the community on how to use the product to meet their needs. You will engage and promote growth within our community. You will act as the voice of the community when working with our team to help us build a product our users love.

You will be part of a growing developer relations team.

What you will do
  • Manage the Observable user community and own all aspects of scaling it around our users.
  • Create vision, strategy, goals and budget for the community programs.
  • Monitor community feedback, analyze trends, and regularly provide insights gained from the community to improve the product.
  • Provide end-user support by answering questions, engaging in conversations with the community, offering tips, and guiding users to the right resources.
  • Create learning materials that minimize reactive support and maximize user engagement.
  • Set up the tools, communication platforms and infrastructure for Observable community.
  • Roll out community branding and resources.
  • Stay up to date with the product as well as community engagement best practices.
  • Organize and manage initiatives to boost community engagement.
  • Organize, track, and measure success of program.
More details in the full job posting. You can also find additional open Observable roles here.

When I started working at Observable seven months ago, I was immediately struck by the fantastic culture that has been cultivated here, and the amazing people I have the pleasure and good fortune to work with. To me this is one of the most important deciding factors when choosing a new role; I have not been disappointed. 💜
