Senior Manager - Data Journalist

Charter Communications is diversifying their analytic approach with a new Data Journalism team to find stories impactful to our business and important to stakeholders. We’re seeking an experienced manager to build and lead a team of talented data storytellers and visualization specialists creating both static and interactive content. You’ll use your strong grasp on how to simplify otherwise complex information display to drive content comprehension and engagement. Being a new discipline to Charter, this leaders is expected to ensure ongoing innovation of team, from creative output to new tools, services, and workflows, by keeping up with new trends and research in the fields of data journalism, data visualization, and UX design. Your passion for finding narratives hidden within data sources is infectious to your team and stakeholders and will cement your success in this growth area.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Oversee the end-to-end creation of innovative and brand-aligned infographics and data visualizations
· Collaborate with cross-functional, internal stakeholders to understand and support strategic, data-driven storytelling
· Conceive, oversee, and execute data-driven investigative reporting projects with creative approaches.
· Use a targeted blend of mediums to provide the most impactful analytic presentation to the appropriately targeted audience
· Proactively identify opportunities for improvement in the business then craft analytic projects in pursuit of finding actions to address those opportunities
· Excellent sense of design exhibited in work, both your own and that of your team
· High level of ownership – You care deeply about your assigned work but also will own problems you find along your data travels, sharing them with the appropriate parties
· Ferret out datasets and develop methodologies that elevate stories and trigger impact
· High level of diplomatic assertiveness – You stick up for your opinions but you know when to pick your battles, avoiding the alienation of others
· Candid with your feedback but caring enough to use positive reinforcement every chance you get
· Perform other duties as requested

o Tableau, Domo, PowerBI, or other Data Dashboarding & Visualization tools

Education
Bachelor’s degree in business or related field
