Founded in 1994, LPC is a woman-owned program evaluation
research firm that provides customized, responsive analytical services and
technical support to public agencies, non-profit organizations, and private
foundations. The staff of full-time professionals have decades of experience
evaluating public health and social service programs. Our evaluation work
covers a wide variety of programs, including community health and well-being,
criminal justice, mental health, violence prevention, alcohol and other drug
use prevention, food security, and reading/literacy, as well as providing
technical assistance and training. LPC believes that it is important to include

Job Summary
The Data Visualist works independently, as well as
collaboratively with coworkers and clients, to build a data-driven culture that
is rich with highly effective visuals. This permanently remote position works
on evaluation studies of government, foundation, and community‐based programs,
including data analysis and interpretation of findings through written, verbal,
and graphic formats, and maintaining client communication. The Data Visualist
is responsible for setting the overall aesthetic for projects and communicating
data findings through captivating and digestible visual formats that maintain
data integrity. The position produces high quality visual materials in support
of communications efforts, business development, and production of technical
deliverables in research, evaluation, and learning.
Responsibilities
- Consult, design, develop, maintain, communicate,
and optimize graphics, presentations, dashboards, data reports, visual
summaries, maps, and other creative products, grounded in data visualization best
practices and in alignment with company, client, and community needs
- Analyze data and develop templates, tools,
graphics, charts, and tables to display findings
- Identify appropriate visuals (including stock
photography) that enhance reporting and enrich stories
- Provide technical editing capabilities, ensuring
formal review of all visuals before submission to client
- Participate in meetings with clients and
partners, representing LPC authentically and reliably
- Maintain day-to-day communication with clients
- Monitor timelines and reporting schedules,
proactively working towards deadlines
- Support the LPC Team as an integrated
collaborator to communicate data inclusively and effectively
- Design and develop templates, style guides, and
other standards to ensure corporate brand consistency
- Provide staff training and coaching to elevate
the standard of creative products and brand application
- Support proposal and business development
processes
Qualifications
- Highly skilled data visualist/storyteller
- Coursework/training in data visualization/data
storytelling
- 2-5 years of professional experience with social
science data visualization/data storytelling, ideally in R
- Advanced level of experience with Microsoft
Office applications
- Experience with data software (R, Adobe Creative
Suite, ArcGIS, Dedoose, PowerBI, and/or Tableau)
- Knowledge of different data types and
appropriate chart types
- Strong professional written and oral
communication skills
- Detail-oriented and committed to completing
tasks with a high degree of accuracy
- Demonstrated collaborative disposition and
desire to work closely with project team members and clients
- Understanding of program budgets and ability to
work within budget constraints
- Able to multi-task and creatively problem solve
- Excellent time management and organizational
skills
- Self-directed and able to work independently, in
a fully remote work environment
Desired Skills
- College degree in Social Sciences or related
field
- Knowledge of qualitative and quantitative social
science research methods
- Experience in professional services consultation
work
- Experience creating digital media content
- Bi-lingual in Spanish is highly valued
Working Conditions
- Remote workplace | LPC is a remote-first company
that prioritizes teamwork and collaboration. We use and expect frequent
communication with the LPC team during our core hours and utilize Microsoft
Teams as a form of ongoing communication and collaboration. Staff must have
high speed internet and a secure work environment in which to work. LPC will
provide a laptop, software, and remote work stipend. Applicants must reside -
and be legally authorized to work - in the United States.
- Travel | There is occasional overnight travel,
based on client need. However, due to COVID-19, no in-person meetings,
conferences, and/or trainings are allowed. Only web-based interactions are
acceptable for the foreseeable future.
- Supervision | This position collaborates with
all staff members and is supervised by the CEO/Research Director.

- Location | Permanently remote; HQ located in
Sacramento, CA
- Salary | $65,000+/year, based on experience
- Hours/Week | Exempt, full-time (40 hours per
week)
- Schedule | Exempt employees are expected to work
whatever hours are necessary to accomplish the goals and deliverables of the
role. Thus, exempt employees have more flexibility in their schedules; LPC’s
core hours are Tuesday-Thursday, 9am-4pm Pacific. Many of our clients work
outside the traditional business day and occasionally staff may be expected to
attend meetings or events after hours or on weekends.
