Can you post your process-conf.xml?  You can remove the username/passwords.

I'm not sure what the problem would be...If you are running the cliq script, it is basically 100% dataloader at that point.

CLIq is writing in UTF-8 - perhaps you could set that to "false" and see if that changes anything.
