Randy,
I like the idea and thanks for the reminder-yes, it will come soon.

§ National Day of Civic Hacking 2014, preliminary [1 Update]
"Randall G. Arnold" <randall...@texrat.net> Jan 22 04:25PM -0600
Gang,
There's still no announcement of dates for this year's National Day of Civic Hacking, but I expect it to be in June like last year.
While we wait for a date, I thought I would share a link to the report on last year's events to get you all up to speed and familiar with the concept: https://speakerdeck.com/secondmuse/national-day-of-civic-hacking-2013-final-report
Last year there were two mini events in the area (Deep Ellum and Red Oak) and one brainstorming session (Fort Worth, moved from Irving). Those of us at the latter session were hoping to bring together a DFW-wide event this year, but were unable to identify an organizer willing/able to devote to the task.
Since BRIT has civic hacking on their agenda anyway, Jason Best and I have discussed a small event at their facility focusing on their theme of water conservation (Karen, that should work for you!). We should be able to attract a diverse array of makers and other stakeholders and I'm excited at the possibility. Should be good material for local media as well.
June may seem far off but these things rush up on you, so let's make sure to keep the gears turning on this one.
