Hi everyone,

I've just uploaded a new version of the airports location data to
http://stat-computing.org/dataexpo/2009/supplemental-data.html. This
comes from a new source suggested by Robert Allison, along with a few
extras collected by Ryan Hafen and myself.

Please let me know if I'm missing any others.

Regards,

Hadley

Hadley,

I think there's a problem with the updated airport-locations.csv ...

I went to the supplemental data page:
http://stat-computing.org/dataexpo/2009/supplemental-data.html

And I clicked/downloaded the 'airport-locations.csv' link:
http://stat-computing.org/dataexpo/2009/airport-locations.csv
But it still seems to only have ~460 lines of data in it (just like
the old file). I'm expecting the new file to have ~3000+ lines of data.

Possible causes?
----------------
Maybe you haven't pushed up the new file yet?
Maybe you accidentally used a slightly different filename?
Maybe my web browser is giving me a 'cached' copy of the old file?
(I tried clearing my cache, but that didn't help.)

Hi Robert,

Oops - I updated the wrong server. Should be there now!

hadley,

I notice you've included the "City" and "Country" columns, but
it would actually be more useful to include "State" rather than "Country".
It's difficult to easily tell exactly which City it is, without
also knowing which State, because we use the same city names in
multiple states.

For example, there are 10 city="Greenville" in the data,
in the following states: AL, IL, KY, ME, MI, MS, NC, PA, SC, and TX.

There are 9 city="Jackson", 8 city="Springfield", 8 city="Marion", etc...

Hi Robert,

Oops, again, that was a silly error on my behalf. The states for most
of the airports are up there now (all apart from the 12 added by
hand). Country is necessary because there are a few airports outside
the US!
