Hacks/Hackers Kampala Breakfast - Election tools for Media and Civic Organisations
How might Civic organisations and Media houses make the upcoming general elections more interesting to young people and encourage them to use their vote?
This month’s Hacks/Hackers Kampala event will be focused on “Election tools for media and Civic organisations”. The focus will be on introducing Journalists and Civic Watchdogs to the tools they can use for civic education; civic engagement, collecting & publishing election data. The event will take place on 4th December 2015, from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM EAT.
What shall we cover?- How to build Interactive voice response services for citizen participation [Voto Mobile].
- How mapping and elections can be mashed up together to promote civic education [Fruits of Thought].
- Using Crowd Sourcing and use of ODK in the process of collection of data [CEWIT].
Who should attend?
The audience for this session will include:
those in media and are interested in how to use civic tools in the elections
Civic society organisations involved in civic education and election monitoring
individuals that work in media organisations and are interested in presenting their data in easy to understand ways
