Hello members,
I would like to invite you to register for Open data day 2015 in Kampala. The event will take place on 21st February 2015 at Outbox Hub.
This is a unique opportunity to be a part of the Open data conversation in Uganda.
The event is organised by Outbox, datadotUG, and Development research and training.
Open data day is a collection of citizens around the world to write applications, liberate data, create visualizations and publish analysis using open public data to show support for and encourage adoption of open data policies by the World's local, regional and national governments.
Who should attend?
Developers: Come wrangle data in order to create something useful
Designers: We need you to make something amazing
Statisticians: You will do the number crunching for us.
Citizens: We need cheerleaders, ideas and friends to spread the world
Librarians: You will scour the earth for interesting data we can use. Help us understand what is important
Why should you attend open data day?
+ Learn more about open data
+ Engage local non-profits and companies in the uses of open data for the product and missions
+ Meet and network with tons of cool people in Kampala and around the world
+ Voice your opinion and share ideas with the people attending
+ Find out about apps being created, and get to play with them as well
+ Help out with parts of conceptualization, creation, design, advertisement and testing of apps.
You can help us make this Open data day amazing right away by doing the following:
+ Submit ideas for sessions you would want to deliver or ideas you would want to pursue in open data
Should you want to share a session during open data day or even work on a given topic, feel free to suggest something on our Google form
+ Share with us data sets you have that can be used on open data day
