20th International Nature Shoot-out Contest "DOGAY"
will be held at 18-22 May 2016 in Saimbeyli and Tufanbeyli (Adana)
Saimbeyli and Tufanbeyli
Saimbeyli and Tufanbeyli -the most distant towns from the the Adana city center- are two lovely mountain towns located on the upper parts of the Taurus Mountains.
Both of the towns have unparalelled and distinct historical, natural beauty and cultural structure characteristics.
Towns are located at the Middle Taurus Mountain area (area aslo named as Aladaglar) and the distance between the towns are approximately 30 km.
This part of the Aladag Mountains are located on the middle of the crossing points where three parallel plant populations meet together -belonging to the three continents which are called as Anatolian Cross by the botanic scientists. Because of this feature, the area is one of the most rich places for its endemic plants. The area is also rich for its fauna -especially the butterfly populations.
It is possible to see many springs which finally creates the Seyhan River at Saimbeyli and Tufanbeyli, and the towns are located inside the huge pine and pos forests. Especially the Obruk Fall which surfaces through a rock is a natural wonder. Furthermore various canyons and valleys are decorated by the streams and rills which creates the Seyhan River.
Because of the rich wetlands, the human life and culture are diverse on the area. You can come across to the mills which are old as 400 years, old mosques and plateau houses.
Even if the current human population on the area are mainly farmers (which were nomads in the past), you can witness the urban life which is dating back to at least 4000 years. For example, Şar-Komana Ancient City; Kırık Church, Ala Gate and Ancient Theater will deliver you the enjoyment -at least comparable to Ephesus. Also, Saimbeyli Castles will welcome you as MiddleAge messengers.
Saimbeyli and Tufanbeyli -where the nomad and plateau traditions are still existed- has the rich opportunities of natural, historical and cultural scenes that are waiting for you to get photographically documented.
