Varun,
Though phishing is in vogue, it's not possible to host a phising site from the same domain as you stated in your mail
Test 1:
Here the listed fake site is also the original one and only at the login prompt it goes in secure mode. Click the claimed fake site, go to the home page and click login>Personal. You will get the link of original site with all https security and lock in status bar.
Test 2:
Here in your mail, it is written that the addition of %20 at the end of site is a sign of the phising site. Click the link of claimed genuine site and then add any junk character at the end, it will redirect you to the
http://www.icicibank.com/ , which the claimed fake site link is also doing.
Test 3:
Click the original site, and then double click the lock in status bar to find the certification. Now click the fake site, which is redirecting to the home page of ICICI bank. Click the Home tab and then chose Personal to find the Login page, where you will get https and a lock in the status bar. Double click to find the certification there also. The claimed fake and original site is exactly same, which is impossible, if they both were different sites. I have attached the screenshot of both. Don't believe me, please have a try yourself.
Where I will thank you Varun for making us aware, I will reiterate, information should be correct and tested as passing rumours are making us sick. Though I agree, we need to be very very careful while doing any online transaction yet this kind of mail, which is meaningless and aimed to create panic among customers should be avoided at any cost.
Break the chain.
Best Regards,
Rajeev Ranjan Lall
