EFI two machine debugging?

On intel Macs there seems to be a Serial Terminal driver included in Apple’s EFI implementation, but no documentation on how to use it for two machine debugging.

When I load the driver in OVMF it links to Qemu’s serial port virtual device, however on my Mac Pro3,1 it’s loaded but not linked.

I’ve come upon a situation developing PCI drivers for Apple’s EFI where it would be useful to do two machine debugging of the EFI env like we could do on PowerPC Open Firmware Macs.

Can anyone offer some direction or point to any documentation?
