The exhibition has been organized by CCA and Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, and is a cultural engagement of UBS. The exhibition features more than 16 artworks by eminent artists of the region or addressing the region and is curated by June Yap, one of Singapore’s international acclaimed curators. The Centre for Contemporary Art (CCA) is a research center of Nanyang Technological University (NTU), developed with support from the Economic Development Board, Singapore. Under the leadership of Ute Meta Bauer, who joined NTU from MIT to serve as CCA’s Founding Director and Professor at the School of Art, Design and Media, the Centre officially opened in October 2013.

ICAAS is pleased to present the Far East Gem Lab Trip, an event where DUAL members can get an opportunity to tour a gemological laboratory renowned for its leading standards in gem research globally. The laboratory was established in 1988 where gemologists could come together to expand their knowledge and skills in gemology. Jewellers such as Chopard, BVLGARI, Tiffany & Co., Lee Hwa and Poh Heng Jewellery are frequent clients of this great institution with many of their staff trained here in gemstone appraisal. The laboratory is helmed by Mr. Tay Thye Sun, who is one of the leading gemologists in Asia with over 30 years of gemological experience. In 2013, he received an honorary fellowship diploma by the Gemmological Association of Great Britain in recognition of his invaluable contributions to global gem research, the only asian to receive this honour to date.

As one of the founders of the Nanyang movement, Liu Kang played a key role in the development of Singapore’s first celebrated and locally conceived artistic style. His large body of artworks express a unique Southeast Asian identity and are distinctive through its use of bright colours and bold outlines. This talk will explore the life and work of this prolific Singaporean artist, from his early beginnings as an artist through to the creation of some of his most well-known paintings. Our speaker for this talk is Durriya Dohadwala, a independent art writer whose articles have been published in print and online magazines and journals. She is a volunteer with Art Outreach and a docent at the Singapore Art Museum, where she guides contemporary and modern Asian art exhibitions. 14. Community – Donate Your Old Camera
The People’s Association (PA) PMET Division, together with Marine Parade Group Representation Constituency (GRC), is piloting a “Donate Your Old Camera!” drive, a meaningful initiative aimed at touching the lives of the less privileged children and youth, enabling them to uncover the joy of photography and capture their childhood memories, through encouraging anyone and everyone to donate their old camera(s). This inaugural initiative is part of MNG CARE programme where we encourage photography-loving people to give back through photography.
The donated cameras will be used by the less privileged youth residing in Marine Parade at My Neighbourhood Gems (MNG) Corporate CARE and Interest Group events.
