Dear DART Team,

I hope this email finds you well. I am writing to seek your assistance with an issue I have encountered while using the DART software for temperature simulation.

Currently, I am using DART software for temperature simulation to verify the accuracy of the land surface temperature I have calculated. However, I have encountered difficulties importing DEM data into DART, as the software consistently fails to read the file. I would like to inquire:

1.Are there specific format requirements for DART when reading DEM data?
2.I noticed that Work Package 2 (WP2) appears to be specifically dedicated to temperature-related topics, but I was unable to locate the corresponding folder in the provided links. Could you please provide additional learning materials or direct me to the relevant resources?

I look forward to your guidance as I continue to explore the capabilities of DART for my research.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

Best regards,
Gao Jinran

Dear Gao Jinran,

I answer to your 2 questions:

1) Importation of DEM
The DART User Manual explains how to import a DEM. The DART User Manual gives information. It is very frequently up-dated. We have up-loaded the the version of January 12, 2026. You are advised to read page 66. It explains an approach to import DEMs.

2) Availability of WP2

This WP2 had been removed because it is being up-dated, especially because the initial mode of DART, called DART-FT (use of Discrete Ordiante Method to simulate radiative transfer in Earth scenes) is being fully replaced by a DART mode that uses a Bi-Directional method  to simulate radiative transfer in Earth scene.
In order to help you WP2.zip has been up-loaded. It mixes simulations of DART-FT and DART (Monte Carlo).

Do not hesitate to contact us if needed.

Best regards

DART Team
