Quick background: for those of you that have seen the TV show The
Unit, it will be based on a Special Forces group assigned unique and
difficult missions. Rather than where most Traveller games kick off,
after mustering out of the services, this will begin after the first
year of Term 4. PC's age ranges will be early 30's. They will have 30
skill points to spend up to that time, and will still be in one of the
services. Special Forces options include Army Rangers, Marine Recon/
Sniper, Navy SEALs, and Intelligence. There are no officers amongst
the PC's; they are shooters and operators. The missions will be doled
out to them, they are welcome to decide if they require NPC's with
skillsets maybe the team does not contain, but it would be wise to
make sure the core team blankets a broad spectrum, assuming most
missions will be tailored for a team of four.
I'd like to try maybe some background and chargen on this upcoming
Wednesday night, and I will do my damndest to be here at 5:30-ish. I
figure if we plan for 530-600, at least the game for East coast folks
will start semi reasonably.
Because the PC's are operators, does not mean they do not require
intelligence and streetskills. Special Forces have always been
required to interact with the indigenous populations, whether that be
for training, or gathering intel, or just blending in.
