WMCL Teams,

 

As we begin planning for the upcoming WMCL 2022 Spring season, we wanted to reach out to all the teams and inform you of important updates for the season. 

First and foremost, this will be the first season back since Covid impacted play in 2020-2021. As communicated previously, this means that the Year-end-rankings from 2019 will be applied for the 2022 pools. (The 2019 rankings can be found here: 2019 Rankings) 

Below are some key areas for all teams to be mindful of:

Administrative Items:

1. Uniform/dress code policy will be in effect for matches (i.e. all players need to be in matching pants and shirts)
2. WMCL will apply "DL-method' for weather/lights impacted games (minimum 6 overs have to be played in the 2nd innings ) 
3. Clear player profile pictures are mandatory as part of your submitted rosters.
4. New team waivers should be submitted before the start of the season (we will send instructions on how to facilitate this via a single zip file but a heads-up for now)
5. Roster size increased to 35 + 2 Dummy ( No flex ) – after Roster deadline if you don’t have 35 you will be not be allowed to add more (e.g. if you have 29 players those are the only players you can play with in that season)
6. Schedule Change requests once the schedule is out officially will not be entertained.
7. We are updating the WMCL Rule book and will share that ahead of the season for other match rules so teams should review it when ready.
8. If a team opts out from the Spring 2022 season they will not retain their WMCL spot anymore. In the future they will be able to return as a new team if a position becomes available.

Umpiring-Related Items:

1. We will not have an Umpiring Panel going forward for the regular season. The panel of umpires has dwindled and the responsibility for umpiring is back on the teams to handle/provide game umpires. 
   
2. Only a WMCL Player with minimum 3 games experience can be sent for umpiring. New teams playing WMCL for the first time in Spring 2022 will be exempt from this requirement for the Spring tournament only.

Penalty-Related Items:

1. Penalties on missing umpiring duties >> $100 /each occurrence >> If you miss 2 times related team forfeits the deposit.
2. Umpires should be there before Official website start time - $25 /first offence >> $50 /second and So on.
   
3. Fail to submit scorecard before deadline ($25/instance) – winning team responsibility to submit on time.
4. Once the organizers enforce a penalty/fine for an infraction, teams are required to adhere to the decision and take the requested actions. We are not going to field follow-up emails/phones.

Prize Money / Awards:

Div 1:

1. Champions: $1500 cash prize, team trophy and 20 individual trophies
2. Runner Up: $1200 cash prize, team trophy and 20 individual trophies
3. Pool winners: Team trophy Only (no cash prize)
4. Best Batsman, Best Bowler, Best All Rounder, MoM (Finals) Trophies Only (no cash prize)

Div 2:

1. Champions: $1200 cash prize, team trophy and 20 individual trophies
2. Runner Up: $1000 cash prize, team trophy and 20 individual trophies
3. Pool winners: Team trophy Only (no cash prize)
4. Best Batsman, Best Bowler, Best All Rounder, MoM (Finals) Trophies (no cash prize)

Next Steps for Team Management (Captains / Managers):

If your team is returning to WMCL in Spring 2022 then lock in your commitment to play.  In order to lock in your spot for Spring 2022 you must pay your team dues by the deadline and instructions below:

Spring 2022 Entry Fees ($855): Deadline to pay: Jan 17th 2022 by 10PM EST

If this date is missed, then: 
With an additional $100 Late fees + Entry Fee ($955 total): Deadline to enter late: Jan 22nd 2022 by 10PM EST

Note: Once tournament fee is paid, fee will not be refunded in case if a team wants to opt out due to any reason.

 

How to Pay Spring 2022 Tournament Fees: 

• Please use the 'Zelle' option from your bank account . All teams should have this setup already to do a bank transfer.
• You can transfer funds to WMCL using Zelle. Use the following email to transfer: organ...@wmcl.net (Do not use any other method).
• Please make sure to indicate your team's name in the notes section
• Once you have made the payment, please send an email to organ...@wmcl.net so we can cross-reference your payment 

Important Points:

• If your team is planning to opt out of WMCL for any reason, please email us at your earliest. Since we are going back to having a regular full season (Spring/Fall), once a team opts out from Spring, they will not retain their WMCL spot and cannot come back for the fall season unless we have an opportunity for a new team in the Fall.
• Only the teams who pay the fee before the above-mentioned deadlines will be considered confirmed for the Spring Season. If any team misses the deadline, they will be jeopardizing their WMCL spot
