I've got an issue with bspwm workspace switching. As you can see after switching I->II the browser stays in the background as basically an image (can't interact). This only happens when I've got windows open in both workspaces.

How to create a ghost image of Windows? Take it easy - it is a simple process as long as you use a piece of free and reliable ghost image software. Here in this post, we will introduce MiniTool ShadowMaker (offered by MiniTool) and how to use it to ghost Windows 10/8/7 in order to keep your PC safe.

As you know, system breakdown occurs due to disasters such as computer virus, manual errors, Windows updates, etc. Thus, it is really a good idea to come up with a good method to ghost Windows 10/8/7 operating system.

Being powerful and flexible, MiniTool ShadowMaker is your best choice for Windows backup & restore. Furthermore, this ghost image software can even allow you to restore the system image to a different computer with different hardware by fixing the compatibility issue with Universal Restore.

2. Where do you want to save the ghost image? An external hard disk, USB flash drive, Pen drive, SSD, HDD, and NAS (Network Attached Storage) are all available. Here, we show you how to ghost Windows 10/8/7 to an external hard drive.

In addition to using the professional and free ghost program, some of you may use Windows built-in tool, Backup and Restore, to ghost your operating system to an image. Of course, it can help you to create a system image when Norton Ghost 15 cannot activate on Windows 10.

Actually, MiniTool ShadowMaker, ghost image backup software, can also help you. In addition to ghost Windows 10 operating system, it allows you to create a ghost image for the entire hard disk. Just get its Trial Edition to try it out.

Want to ghost Windows 10 or ghost hard drive Windows 10? Take it easy! MiniTool ShadowMaker can help you realize these two goals. Just get this free ghost software on Windows 10, 8 or 7 to run a computer backup. Also, share it to your Twitter to let more people know its powerful features.

It refers to backing up your Windows, files, disk or partition to an image file. During the backup process, the backup source is compressed by the ghost image software. Once an accident happens to your computer such as system crash, Windows unable to boot after updates, drive failure, etc. you can only restore the image through the original software.

Want to ghost Windows 10/8/7? Now, try the tools above and follow the corresponding steps to start creating a ghost image of your Windows operating system. If you want to ghost hard drive Windows 10, try the free ghost software, MiniTool ShadowMaker.

Description of the issue:
Strange empty Brave windows spontaneously appear. They are visible only when using Mission Control in Mac OS X version 10.15.5. (See screenshots.) Clicking on one goes to a normal populated Brave window.

@Mattches,
I tried both of these ideas. I turned off Hardware Acceleration, quit and restarted Brave, and then the ghost window came back. I then turned Hardware Acceleration back on, disabled all extensions, quit and restarted Brave, and again the ghost window came back.

@Mattches After creating two new Profiles for the first time ever in my use of Brave, and closing some Brave windows but not restarting Brave, I discovered that the ghost window that was present right before doing these things is now gone. This is the first time I have seen a ghost window disappear without restarting Brave.

I also have the same problem with Google Chrome. It appears to happen when I put windows into fullscreen side-by-side mode. Windows seems to recognize two windows on opposite sides of the screen as also another window. I currently have two ghost tabs that I had dragged for multitasking, which I think Windows is just doing a bad job of handling when windows are updated. If I close all my desktop windows, I can still not get rid of these, so the only way to make them disappear is by going in cmd and typing 'taskkill /f /im explorer.exe' and then 'explorer' to restart the window manager. Sometimes that doesn't work but when I restart the next day it will be fixed. Here's two ghost windows I have that I cannot pull up and when I click on them they just do nothing. (I can't even close them because the X button does nothing)

We have made quite a few fall & Halloween crafts over the past few weeks. Last week we made a fall window scenes. I made a fall tree, while Mai chose to make monsters in the windows. It was a fun craft for both of us. Last night, she wanted to make more window crafts. We used popsicle sticks to make our windows last night. We put ghosts & a glittery spider in our windows, but you may choose to put anything in yours. An owl, bats, a witch or a haunting moon would be great options as well.

This feature is called window ghosting. Basically what happens is if the window manager decides the window is hung, it will capture the contents of it's client area, and create a window on the screen with the class 'ghost', with the contents it was able to capture, and the window styles of the original window(in most cases, iirc). So the window you see on screen when the app is not responding is not actually the app's window, just a replacement that will hang around until the thread responsible for that window starts responding again. The menubar is gone because the fake window does not have a menu, just extra space for it which is painted white. A disabled menubar would probably cause support problems.

This was a very good suggestion. It seems to have worked perfectly. In summary: instead of checking for the CLASS of a hung window to be 'Ghost', I should use the windows API to have it determine whether the window is actually hung. My side script can then kill the process.

When I try to remove files, they sometimes become "ghost files" that are impossible to delete. These files disappear when the computer is restarted, but restarting my computer isn't always a reasonable solution because of rendering or other long-running tasks. Programs which frequently create and remove files (such as programs using lock files) often stop working because of these ghost files they cannot remove or replace. No program can open the file, either.

it kind of depends on your hardware and os you are using. i backup all my retro machines because i hate installing software.
i use the following:
windows 95 - ghost 5.1, works well with low memory systems (windows or dos)
windows 98se - clonezilla 1.1.0-8, requires more memory than ghost, this version runs well on older chipsets like bx440 or i815 (bootable cd)
windows 2000 - acronis true image 10 w/bart's pe builder, has a few different boot and recovery options to run from windows or other bootable environment. also useful if you need to backup a raid array.
windows xp (and above) - macrium reflect . whatever the latest version is. still runs on xp. love those guys.

I am crossing my fingers, but I started to notice a 'flash' related to duplicating windows and viewing on different screens. I updated my NVIDIA driver to the new package - the full packages don't seem to come over push mechanisms. And I have not seen the problem in the days since I upgraded.

I've tried all the various "things to try" that many people have posted here and elsewhere . . . all to no avail. No matter what I tried, the 'ghost' was always there IF I opened Excel full-screen (i.e. maximized). If I had foresight of mind to close Excel non-maximized, then when I'd re-open it things were fine (no ghost).

After a game crashed (OpenRCT2, It was the default mac crash window.), I have had this ghost window stuck on my screen. It's on top of everything including the login screen and the screensaver. When my mouse is on the left part of it, My mouse does the loading thing, but on the right side, I can click right through it. The inside of the window is completely transparent. This window has gotten really obnoxious and I can't get rid of it. It also can't be moved..Please Help. (I'm on macOS Sierra if that's important.)

However since the card was installed in the old configuration there is a good chance windows will still boot. The problem will just be getting Ghost to recognize the RAID card. Try Hiren's Boot CD v9.x. It comes with a dos boot environment with lots of scsi, usb and sata drivers....

I have BackTrackR2 on a thumbdrive with ghost on it that I usually use for imaging and also a Hiren's so I will try both. Do you see any issue with it messing up SQL databases or anything? I have never used ghost on a machine with SQL databases on it.

The sample application includes the n_ghostingbuster NVO, which contains functions that help manage an unresponsive window and invokes the Window API functions that have been described in this document. It also contains the n_timecalc NVO mentioned earlier to assist with elapsed time management.

Alternatively, I could have checked in the window's CloseQuery event if a test is actively running when the user attempts to close the window and if so, ignored the close request. Instead, I've left this as an exercise for the reader. You can see what happens if you click on the window's "X" button (in the upper-right corner) immediately after starting a test that is configured to use the Yield PowerScript function, but only if you click it before the window is ghosted.

EaseUS Todo Backup is another tool that allows you to clone system disk Windows 10 or ghost Windows hard drive to an image file with three steps. It also supports schedule backup, meaning you can set a specific time, and it will create a system image automatically. Here is the step-by-step tutorial:
