Not sure where this should go so I am putting it here. Over the past week our 2015 edge with 11k miles has had the camera turn in while driving. We have even had it give the impression that transmission was shifted when sitting still yet it remained in drive.
It was super distracting to see behind the vehicle going one way as I'm trying to drive another direction. If you had to brake to pull out of say a driveway it would literally stay on until the wheels had been moving forward for 5 seconds or so
A lot of devices have their own intelligence - makes it easier to update/make changes. E.g. the radio has its own accessory delay timer which means it can also be programmed to turn on by itself when the ignition is off. Decentralization.
Now there are things that no sane, rational person would EVER consider doing because it goes against all logic. Unless/until you realize what is really happening in the background and in reality "as far as the car knows"
I linked that video because, I have a hard time believing that there isn't a way to trick the car's system at the appropriate spot to enable the camera. Obviously it can happen because the OP had it happen. I'd like to hear the "fix" for that and if the mechanic could explain WHAT was happening vs "i just replaced module "Y" and it went away." but oh well.
I had one in my Edge and still have one in my Mustang. It merely tricks the system by turning off certain inputs such as speed. For the navigation system, it turns off the input of the vehicle's speed so that the navigation will allow input. The problem is that if you forget to turn it back on, you won't get any directions from your navigation because it doesn't know you're moving (don't ask how many exits I've missed because of that). For the backup camera, it doesn't seem to do anything with the gear input - it simply triggers the rear camera manually. I don't know what it does for video because I would never attempt to watch a video while moving.
Frankly, I don't even remember which button on the steering wheel activates it anymore (I think you hold the phone button for 3 seconds) because it didn't really provide any features that I couldn't live without so I haven't used it in at least a couple of years. I'm really just too lazy to take it out and try to sell it.
I have been experiencing quite a few problems with the rendered view. As you can see in the video, for some reason the camera view is flipped/reversed and I don't know why it has done this. Like I have the object rotated to the left and in the rendered view its to the right which is confusing. Not only this but whenever I go out of the render view and try to move around the object it rotates around the z axis but flipped on it's side.
I'm also facing problems with the rendered view, I am using a HDRI environment and the spot light I have added doesn't light up my object. Also I want the background to show as black whilst the render is still using the HDRI to light the object but it just appears as a grey background.
I have the same problem. My default live view on the camera is a mirror view. When I take the picture, it reverses to the correct view within the app. Using the cam from within another application, however, fails to reverse the photo and the mirror image remains. An example is facebook Messenger. I'd like the default live view to behave like a rear facing camera so the flip-on-snapshot isn't needed and other apps don't show the image mirrored. I cannot find the boxes mentioned in this thread - there are no settings to mirror ir flip vertical that I can find.
I have a target camera constrained to move along a circle path. I am unable to find a "reverse" button as has been suggested for spline path constraints. Can someone advise as to how to reverse the camera path when confined to a circle? Many thanks!
Everything works except the backup camera display is black. When I put it in reverse the H/U switches to backup camera mode and it says "image may be reversed" and shows the parking assist lines. I move the gear selector either way and the H/U goes back to regular mode.
I am having the same issue as well, but I have the AVH-600EX PIONEER radio. I got into my truck the other day and when I left to go to the store it was working. Then when I got there it had stopped for somereason!! I checked the video jack going in the radio and it was plugged in and at the camera and everything is getting power!! Then noticed the video cable somehow got cut. I replaced and re-ran another video cable and I am still getting a blank screen when putting it in reverse or selecting the rear camera view while in drive to check the trailer etc... Could it be that the new cable I replaced the broke one with be bad? I have checked the fuses and a inline glass fuse on the negative wire as well is still good. I even changed out the backup camera as well thinking it may have burned out, but still getting a blank screen on both camera views and the wording for the rear view, but no lines for parking!!!?
Searched this thread because I'm having the exact same problem installing new one in my daughter's CRV. Figured it out myself. Camera wasn't grounded. If yours worked then stopped, ensure your ground is good. Many people put the wire under a screw... you have to scrape the paint off. Must ground to bare metal!!If getting warnings on screen about reverse view etc, and screen goes black when you put in reverse, then the head unit is working. Problem is with camera. Check that ground!
Try checking the video input. Tha camera cable has a yellow connector, it should be connected to the brown input at the back of the radio. I had made mistake of connecting to yellow input, and I would see the black screen when I switched into reverse or selected view camera option.
Initially I spliced the camera power into the reverse light power, as well as the ground cables. I used the AV cable that came with the unit which had an additional red line. I hooked the red line to the reverse light and the other end into the head units reverse signal input line, and the RCA plug into the RCin port. The result was the head unit displayed the camera all times EXCEPT when I reversed. I ended up having to wire up a relay that disconnected power when in reverse and had power enabled in all other gears with the relay wiring as such:
By necessity, the iPad camera is off-axis; the bigger the screen and the closer you are to it, the more this physical limitation becomes apparent. This effect is not limited to iPad, but similarly affects all computing platforms that employ a front-facing camera.
Unless you are looking directly at the camera, you gaze will never appear to be looking in its direction. Ultra wide-angle lenses, such as that employed by recent models of iPad Pro and iPad Air, seem to visually exaggerate this effect - hence the behaviour that you observe.
When comparing with a a desktop or laptop PC, the camera is most often placed at the top as opposed to the side of the screen (as is the case when using your iPad in Landscape orientation). As such, when using a PC, you gaze may appear to be below and away from the camera axis. A correctly positioned laptop will have the top-edge of the screen (and hence the camera) will be approximately at eye-level. Whilst your gaze will still be directed downwards, the off-axis effect will be minimised.
It follows that the only way that this limitation could be fully resolved is to place the camera lens dead-centre - looking through your screen. Clearly, this is not a viable proposition with current screen technology.

This bothers me as I want others on the meeting to see my face exactly as I think they are seeing. My face is not exactly symmetrical (I guess?) and I feel weird and conscious about it. I wish to flip the camera's capture for this.
Okay, so I came around OBS which is lightweight and easy to use.It sits between your computer raw captures and the outputs you see and it lets you modify them. It can then act as a virtual camera and it thus solves my problem.
