Dear all,
On Sunday afternoon there will be a special celebration of Carl
Philipp Emanuel Bach's 300th anniversary at Clare Hall. See poster
attached and text below:
Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach (1714-1788) was arguably the most important member of the Bach family after
Johann Sebastian himself.
Our programme will consist of three separate short recitals, which will celebrate different aspects of CPE Bach's work..
We will start at 4pm with a Clavichord recital, played by the Cambridge based historical keyboard and early music
specialist Francis Knights, presenting both the instrument and the composer.
The next part, at 5pm will include chamber music and solo pieces for various instruments.
The 5pm concert will include contributions from instrumentalists Abigail Dolan, Martin Ennis, Dan Tidhar, and others.
The last recital at 6pm will include some orchestral works as well as additional chamber music.
You are welcome and encouraged to attend all three concerts or any combination or individual concerts.
Admission is free, with a retiring collection.
