Lund Model United Nations invites you to participate in our simulation of the Security Council at our conference this spring!
The date for the conference is set for 16-18th of April 2010. The conference will take place at Juridicum (Faculty of Law) in Lund. The scenario is currently being processed and will be announced later on our website.
Take the opportunity to become a diplomat for a weekend!
Model United Nations (MUN) is an academic simulation of the United Nations that aims to educate participants about civics, current events, effective communication, globalization and multilateral diplomacy.
As a participant you take on the role as a diplomat and participate in a simulated session of the Security Council (LUMUN 2010). For this you have to research a country, take on the honorable role as highly qualified diplomat, investigate an international issue, be in formal debate, deliberate inside as well as outside the council, consult with your fellow delegates, and develop a solution to a world problem!
During a conference, participants must employ a variety of communication and critical thinking skills in order to represent the policies of their country. These skills include for instance public speaking (take the opportunity to learn and develop your public speaking skills), group communication (how to communicate in the most effective way even under pressure and time limit), negotiating, conflict resolution and research. The debate will be formal with the rules of procedure (these you will find to download on our website).
The application forms will soon be posted on the website!
