Hello my favorite ma'ams!
I've been home for a few days, and I miss your crazy selves already. I just wanted to congratulate you guys again on a great end to the season- I was very proud of how you all played at regionals.
It has been a pleasure and a blessing to coach you this year. I hope I taught you all something, as every single one of you taught me an incredible amount on a daily basis. Thank you so much for that. You are a motivated, hardworking, fun-loving group of girls that truly care about each other and love this game that we play.
I'm looking forward to coming back to coach you all next year because of the level of enthusiasm and dedication that I've seen from our returning crew. As I mentioned at regionals, I want this team to be a growing, changing being. I want us to take a look every year and destroy things that were a bad idea and keep the things that worked. I want us to collaborate in a way that everyone's voice is heard and we are able to evolve a little bit each year in ways that set us up to reach our goals.
Over the course of the year, the captains and I put a lot of work into planning practices, tournaments, and team events. I ask a lot from your guys, but also put a lot into the team in return. That being said, I have created a comprehensive end of season survey which I would like to act as an outlet to identify strengths and weaknesses and to brainstorm new ideas for the upcoming season. It is long, but I would like you to actually spend a decent amount of time working on this and ask that you don't take it lightly. This is your opportunity to share your opinions and help build our team. Please be honest, and don't be afraid to be harsh---I can guarantee that no one is more critical on what went down this season/has more ideas for change than myself. I want your honest takes on it all. I would like both graduating and returning players to fill this out in the next week (before you forget everything and get on with summer).
The captains and I will also be working together to create feedback/what to work on this summer e-mails for the returning players in the near future. Overall, I encourage you all to just play as much ultimate as possible. Get as many touches on the disc as you can. No matter what level you're playing at (pickup, league, elite club), continually challenge yourself to improve- don't play passively. Be a leader on the field and be confident in your abilities. When you're throwing around with a friend, pick a foci for your throws, or for your catches. Constantly play on a level where you're uncomfortably challenging yourself to take your play to new heights.
I am personally super excited to see what ya'll achieve over the summer--- I have a feeling you're gonna come back sickly talented. I'm fine about it. Also, if your team has cool strategies or awesome drills- write them down and bring them back with you!
Great season ladies, thank you again for all the hard work you put in. If you need anything from me or have questions over the summer, you know I'm always down to chat up the friz. Hail to Pitt.
