When I tried to use DanceWizard today, I got the message,
"Open of dance database C:\Users\Owner\OneDrive\Documents\My Dances\
DanceWizardDances.mdb failed.  Disk or network error."

I clicked okay and got into the Dance Selection window and all my dances are gone.

Yesterday, I bought a new computer and put Dance Wizard on that one, also.
I think it is using the 6 month free trial but maybe not.  If I can't have Dance Wizard
on 2 computers, I'd be happy to buy it for the second computer.  This may not be the problem anyway.

Any input would be appreciated.

Hi Pat,

From the error message it looks like your Documents folder is stored in Microsoft OneDrive. This can be used to keep things consistent between multiple computers (I don't use this myself), but this looks like it's configured such that the files are not stored locally on your laptop but in the cloud, and that when you went to access the files your laptop wasn't connected to the network.

I believe there is a configuration setting you can modify on that Documents folder to mark it as always keeping copies of the files on your laptop. Another alternative would be to move your dance database (and folders) to another location that is not stored in the cloud (perhaps as another folder on your C: drive). To do this you'll need to be connected to the network so that Windows can fetch the files from the cloud. I just got a new laptop yesterday and am in the process of getting it set up - one of the first things I did was to turn off OneDrive and make sure all of my files were stored locally on the laptop.

As to licenses - you can use the same license on as many backup laptops as you'd like - no restrictions.

I need to look into how to have DanceWizard detect that your files are in the cloud and provide a warning about how this should be configured.
