Below is information about the Bourns Ball. A group from Dancesport will
be giving a choreographed performance after dinner (~6:45 or 7:00 pm),
then there will be dancing until midnight. All Dancesport members are
welcome!
Playlist:
I'm going to make sure that there is some ballroom music on the
playlist, and there will also be a lot of hip hop that you can do Samba,
Cha Cha, Rumba, West Coast, and even Foxtrot, Tango, and Quickstep to.
I'm not sure yet if the DJ will be announcing which dances work with
which songs, but if not it'll be a great exercise in picking out the
beat and deciding which dance fits it. I'm going to make it my personal
challenge to fit each Standard/Smooth dance to at least one hip hop song
that evening. >^-^<
Tickets:
PLEASE NOTE: You will need to purchase a ticket whether you are involved
in the performance or not. See below for ticket sales times and
location. Banquet/ball tickets are $10 for UCR peeps ($15 for others)
and ball-only tickets are $5. If you would like a ball-only ticket, you
will need to specifically request it and say that Megan told you that
you can go ahead and buy one. You can purchase ball-only tickets next
week, but you must purchase banquet/ball tickets by THIS FRIDAY.
Performers:
If you are performing and/or teaching a mini-lesson, you will be able to
purchase a banquet/ball ticket at the volunteer price of $5, or a
ball-only ticket for free (you still need to go pick one up). Van has
sent me the names of these people, and I'll make sure that you are on
the volunteer list.

College of Engineering Students, Faculty, and Staff!
As you know, the Marlan and Rosemary Bourns Ball was created to bring
all of the engineering students together in a celebration of the end of
the year and of our collective accomplishments. The College of
Engineering student organizations invite you to attend our 2nd Annual
Marlan and Rosemary Bourns Ball on June 1st, 2007 for a night of dining,
dancing, games, and music.
Doors will open at 5:30pm with live music from a band composed of COE
students until the 1-hour program starts at 6pm. Throughout the banquet
dinner, you will hear brief presentations from Chancellor France
Cordova, Dean Reza Abbaschian, and leaders of engineering student
organizations You will experience dance performances by the Salsa Club
and Dancesport, followed by a DJ, dancing, games, and a Mock Casino.
Tickets are available in Engineering Building Unit 2 Room 102 (right
next to the downstairs lobby) from Monday, May 14th to Friday, May 25th
(on weekdays) between the hours of 11am-2pm and 5-7pm. Tickets will cost
$5 for Bourns Ball volunteers (email

to become a volunteer) and $10 for all undergraduate and graduate
