Hi Carolyn and Oliver ,
This is such a great effort taken by you, to enhance MOOC platforms where it will enable more interactions.
Well, it is a timely need and we all talk about it individually or in small groups everywhere in MOOCs but little attention being payed largely on research.
Let me quote a thread I was having in NovoEd course design thinking - we were talking how to bring improvements to online
"For
the learning community Discussions are very interesting. However, there
is not a space in the platform to have "live discussions", which would
be really nice for closeness and for vivid engagement with subjects
and themes.(I've felt this lack on a couple of on line courses I've participated, but it was better described by Dilrukshi Gamage, on her "Prototyping to improve online learning" thread)..."
We all talk about this in every MOOC I took, but very little attention taken by researchers or developers rather their focus is more towards information transferring... we need to change this drive.. technology is developed such that we dont take the real advantage of it to learn..
Live or synchronous interactivity is well demanded and it is time that we as researchers, lifelong learners, MOOCers bring this to a table and be serious. ( which you are doing now ;)
Anyway looking forward for the next discussion and already feeling 1 month apart is too large.. wish this event take place twice a week ;)
Lets build a community .. who has similar ideas and lets learn together...
