Looking for instrumental rap beats?
Aren't we all... after all, what's an MC without a beat? The problem
is that while many rappers spend their time developing their style and
lyrics, at the end of the day there isn't enough time to spend on
creating music to rap to.
Enter the DJ.
It is becoming increasingly easier to find quality beats, particularly
online. Here are some questions you should consider BEFORE you
purchase beats from someone:
Are these beats royalty free? What license applies to this work?
It's important to realize that just because someone is selling beats
to you, doesn't mean it's theirs to sell. Always check out the beat,
and make sure to find somewhere in writing that the beat is truly
theirs, AND you can use it royalty free. That way, even if someone
else claims it was their beat, you pass the liability on to whoever
sold it to you in the first place.
Do I have the resources to record over this beat, and produce it? If
not, will you be able to help?
This is a biggie. I think at some point we've all bought a beat that
we thought would be the "next hot thing" only to have it sit on our
shelves collecting dust (or hard drive, for that matter). Make sure
before you purchase a rap instrumental beat that you have a plan for
it. Some beat makers are also producers, and will gladly help you
record and produce your song, for an added fee.
Will this be for you, or a group of rappers?
If it's for a group, make sure they're on board for the beat... I pity
the person who buys beats and then has to "sell" their friends on it.
