That's it. Keep in mind that account holds begin immediately and because partial months are not credited, we recommend waiting until the day before your billing date to put it on hold. The duration of the hold can be between seven and 90 days, but you can manually reactivate your account at any time during the hold.
I pay for Netlflix through Sky - but they are saying my account is on hold. Tried sorting it with them but couldnt, they said go through Sky! Why is this happening - i am paying my sky bill all the time.
Hello, long time user of paypal, first time with a question. Ive had my paypal all set up with my bank card and have been using it to pay for netflix for about 4-5 months now. However, I woke up this morning to find a email from them saying my account is on hold because they could not porcess my paypal information.
so... i check my profile there... found nothing wrong. checked my profile here... found nothing out of the ordinary. no fees owed or anything like that. Call netflix custommer service line... they tell me to make sure nothing is wrong here.
Now, i did have some trouble a month ago when netflix charged to my paypal, my paypal charged my bank.. to find no money(overspent on christmas, forgot about the incomming charge) so I had to fix those fees, which I did. So im really not sure what is wrong. is paypal angry with me and no longer allowing things to be processed through my bank account? it doesnt seem so, as ive spent money at other sites just fine. I'm really just kinda stuck and confused... any ideas?
I have exactly the same issue. Ive been a Netflix customer for years and Use PayPal for many daily transactions. Today I received an email saying payment wasnt processed, now I can only enter a credit card.
Same issue. The problem is with NETFLIX. PayPal claims Netflix changed the payment parameters so the paypal account needs to be verified by a credit card. I wasted an entire day, and got bounced back & forth. Netflix said it was Paypal's issue, and Paypal said it was Netflix. REALLY BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE due to the fact that neither company, even the supervisors did not appear to know what the heck is going on? Pathetic. 4 phone calls!!!
I transfer funds from my bank account to my paypal account. The money is just sitting there waiting for Netflix to take it, but they will not because i have no credit card? There is no reason they need one. When talking to Netflix, the CSR even said they don't need to verify a paypal account, and they could not understand why the subscription process demands a credit card. Despite this I can't complete my account with Netflix without a credit card.
I previously had the VIP TV package and when I moved back to Big Sport my Netflix subscription moved over to the new package. I've just had some emails from Netflix saying that my subscription is on hold as I am "no longer using a partner offer to pay for your Netflix membership". I have checked my account and can see that the emails are genuine. Netflix is no longer listed on my package in my BT account as well. This would appear to be happening at the same time as the price increase but I don't understand why it's been removed from my BT TV package. Any ideas?
if I understand correctly the newer VIP packages ( ie those newly taken or flexed to after a particular date ) include NETFLIX standard . If once you have this VIP including standard NETFLIX you then flex to BIG SPORT you should have the BIG SPORT with basic NETFLIX but would have to add yourself the upgrade to NETFLIX standard or Premium as an monthly add on . If you took out a new BT TV contract for BIG Sport that would not include NETFLIX.
My experience in case it helps. I signed to a 24 month contract with BT TV in December 2021. This was initially to the VIP package which included Netflix Standard. On 8 April I flexed to the Big Sport package which was bundled with Netflix Basic.
Forgive me, but I wasn't clear if you changed package by taking out a new 24 month contract for Big Sport or if you flexed like I did. If you took out a new 24 month contract for Big Sport this does not include Netflix (this all matches what @zulu17 said earlier). If you flexed, then it might be that your order was in the cross-over period between when Big Sport was offered without Netflix to the current situation where Big Sport is bundled with Netflix basic.
Netflix spearheaded the streaming movement and changed at-home entertainment as we know it. For this reason, it remains one of the giants of the industry today. Scammers often impersonate well-known, trustworthy companies, making a household name like Netflix a prime target. With scam texts holding their spot atop the list of phone-scam threats, Netflix text scams were all but inevitable.
Phone scammers steal billions of dollars from Americans every year, leaving them with drained bank accounts and lingering psychological effects. However, there are ways to protect oneself and fight back. Keep reading to learn about Netflix text scams and how to avoid falling for fake messages.
Netflix text scams are a specific type of smishing attack (which is a type of phishing scam) whereby fraudsters try to get valuable personal information from their targets by disguising themselves as Netflix. They hunt for sensitive data like credit card numbers, email addresses, and login credentials they might use to hack into other accounts. Some scammers go directly for your money, while others sell your stolen data on the dark web.
One type of Netflix text scam claims your account has been put on hold, possibly due to declined payments or suspicious account activity. The text contains a link and instructs you to follow it to input your credentials, update your information, and regain access to the streaming service. Unfortunately, the link actually sends you to a fake website where scammers can steal your information. Alternatively, it may download malware onto your device.
Scammers like to center scams around problems with payment or billing information because it allows them to target your most sensitive data right away. Some Netflix text scams claim you must update your payment details because your card expired or was declined. As usual, they send a link that allegedly allows you to update your financial information and reactivate your account, but your financial details go right to the scammer.
Many different types of scams involve the same kinds of tactics, which means they feature some of the same red flags. Some warning signs are easy to spot, while others are a bit more subtle. The quicker you recognize the signs, the quicker you can shut down the scammer.
Although Netflix may not be able to reimburse you after a scam text, telling them about your experience may allow them to protect others from going through it themselves. You can forward Netflix scam text messages to phis...@netflix.com.
You can also report scam texts to the authorities to help them combat scammers and build their global databases. Getting your money back after being scammed can be difficult, but quickly alerting the authorities and giving them all of the information you can may improve your chances of catching the criminal.
Netflix text scams are just one iteration of the multi-billion-dollar text scam problem, but there are ways to protect yourself and take back your privacy. With the right spam-blocking app, you can fend off phone scams of any kind and block robocalls and scam texts before they can make it to your phone. That spam-blocking app is called Robokiller.
I recently came to the end of my contract and signed up to a new one for a further 18 months. Netflix is still included in this contract but for some reason after my new package went live when I try to watch Netflix it says please add payment information and that my account is on pause.
I called Virgin Media 5 days ago and explained the problem and the person said that she has sent the problem to a certain department and it should be sorted in 3 - 4 days. However I am still unable to watch Netflix after 5 days. I would think it would be as simple as relinking my Virgin Media account to Netflix and I can't understand why this is taking so long. It should never have been removed in the first place.
I refuse to add payment information to Netflix because I don't want to be charged for a service that should be included with my Virgin Media contract. If anyone knows how I can get this resolved quickly it would be greatly appreciated. I watch a lot of Netflix and I should be able to watch it as part of my new contract.
Yes on every device. I get a notification saying my account is on hold and asking to add payment information. As Netflix is included in my Virgin contract I should not need to add any payment information.
In May 2022, Google and Twitter users reported being at the receiving end of a text message scam that claimed their Netflix accounts had been locked due to a membership payment being declined. One version of the message read: "ALRT: Your latest Netflix membership payment has been declined and account is locked." This was nothing more than a dangerous phishing scam, and an old one at that. The goal for the scammers appeared to be to obtain login details and other personal information, all of which should be closely safeguarded by readers.
These kinds of text messages include links that lead to websites that may look like the Netflix website, but in reality are fakes operated by scammers. We strongly advise against clicking the links or filling in any information.
If readers receive a text message like this and are unsure if it's a scam, simply delete it without clicking any of the links. After it's deleted, visit the official Netflix website (Netflix.com) and check to see if everything is in order on your account's billing page.
Another text message that was shared in a tweet read as follows: "From: NETFLIX. MSG: We couldn't process the May Netflix monthly payment and account is temporarily on hold. See the complete details on the attachment below." (We corrected various spelling errors made by the scammers.)
