Hey Girls! So nice to see that we all are enjoying spirited
discussions here at Dames Don't Care : )
Since some of you have not met either Abby or I, or heard of this
group before the AFM discussion, lemme explain what were all about (I
guess I shouldn't speak for Abby, so take this as only Emily's
opinion). We are an all girls riding group. Let me first say, I enjoy
riding with boys. They comprise the majority of my moto friends and I
ride with them often. However, I have participated in some girl-only
rides and they have been fabulous in ways that rides with boys could
never be. For those few hours, we get to be just riders, not girl
riders riding with boys. We don't have to feel self-concious about how
slow or new or what we ride. I realize that these feelings are self-
imposed, but for some of us, they seem to go along with the territory.
This group was initially started with newer riders like me and Abby in
mind. Helping us to get comfortable riding twisties and highways and
city streets in a group format is a major goal. Other goals include
getting mechanically familiar with our motorcycles, doing some
charitable work here and there, possibly getting some track time in,
and gaining some emergency medical knowhow. In order for us to
maximize our potential, some kindly riders with more experience are
participating as well, passing down knowledge and skills, helping us
gain self confidence.
There are many more reasons that I feel like this group is fabulous,
but my boss is getting pissed, so I gotta go. We have only done two
rides so far, and have gotten nothing but "woohoo!" responses from our
participants. I hope to see you all on our future rides : )
