Hello to my awesome, bad ass, beautiful, wonderful, fellow lady racers!

As you may have heard, the AFM recently approved two rounds of a
women's racing class. Two races are scheduled for the April and May
Infineon rounds, with a reassessment scheduled for the June AFM board
meeting (please plan to come to this meeting to show your support for
the class and help convince them there is good reason to continue it
the rest of the year). For information about joining the AFM, or for
the racing schedule and additional details, please visit
http://afmracing.org/.

It's run what you brung, as long as you've brung something bigger than
a 125. The race will be held on Saturday afternoon, after morning
practice, as a wave gridded up behind Clubman Lightweight, the AFM's
"intro to racing" class for bikes 599cc and smaller. Provided that
you meet the cut off times for racing on Sunday classes, you may race
in your respective co-ed classes as well.

I sincerely hope that you will consider racing with us. A lot of work
by a lot of people has gone into this effort and I hope it will be a
success. There may be some non-AFM sanctioned contingency and
sponsorship, but the details haven't been hammered out yet. I hope
you will consider racing simply to support the class and help it
become a year long series, and to help us attract more sponsorship and
interest for an even bigger and more lucrative series in 2010.

To race in the regular Sunday classes, you must meet the following lap
times in Formula AFemme on Saturday:

Open Superbike: 1:58
Open Production: 2:00
750 Superbike: 1:58
750 Production 2:02
600 Superbike: 1:59
600 Production: 1:59
650 Twins:2:05
Formula IV: 2:05
250 Superbike: 2:09
250 Production: 2:20

New AFM licenses are $140 for the season and a reciprocity license is
$70. For a reciprocity license, you must have documentation from a
road racing club that you are a current member and stating your
classification (novice, expert, amateur, etc.). Saturday practice in
April will cost $115, your first race will cost $80, each additional
race you enter will cost $60. You MUST pre-enter with the AFM, you
cannot simply show up and race. You must enter the Sunday classes you
would like to qualify for and if you do not qualify, I believe you get
some or even all of your money back.

Please forward this email to any women racers you know (or possible
women racers) who might like to race with us. If you live far away
and are not able to transport your motorcycle to the event, you can
rent race-outfitted Ninja 250 race bikes for $250 per day, and we
already have one woman signed up for AFemme who races on this type of
bike (that means you Lisa!) so you may have someone to play with. :)

Please feel free to contact myself, Joy Higa or Svetlana Gorina if you
have any questions about how to join the AFM or sign up for the class.

Love and peace and safe riding to everyone,

Christie Cooley
