Pittsburgh, PA submitted this powerful photo, which has moved me
and many other people beyond words. The picture raises so many
emotions, thoughts and quite honestly tangles my mind in all kinds of
ways. It evokes issues of racial and economic dichotomies, gender
access, generational differences, father-son tension, white
responsibility, corporate involvement, access to wealth, assimilation,
even the feeling of waiting and sitting in between two worlds. The
many levels of dialogue that are contained in this simple image are
powerful, and amazingly, caught spontaneously on the corner of what
could be any city in the country.
