I pass this along quickly (thus no fancy email format) via the
Black Folks for Obama group from Lonnee Hamilton. Thanks Lonnee!
As I predicted, racism would come oozing out of every crevice as
we watch Obama win the hearts of American voters. We have to be more
vigilant than ever.
In an interview with Fox News, Sen. Clinton says, among
other things, that "it took a President
(Lyndon Johnson) to get things done," with regards to the civil
rights movement. [her emphasis]
http://bourbonroom.blogs.foxnews.com/2008/01/07/clintons-candid-assessment/ the quote is about 3/4 of the way into the extremely
boring interview.
That's a pretty demoralizing comment. It's not her direct dig on
MLK and the complete ignorance of other leaders of that time, that
stings me as much as it takes away from all the real people -
citizens, who fought violence and degradation every day to get real
change accomplished. Hillary makes herself very clear here as
believing in a unilateral power of the President- something we've
definitely had too much of lately.
