Dear league members
This is a follow up to the email sent to your last week. It is just to confirm the regulations from the league handbook and provide an interpretation.
As from this weekend only those individuals who can prove that they are registered with England Basketball will be allowed to participate in the league.
1- In order to prove that an
individual is registered with England Basketball, they will need to provide:
- England Basketball license card with photo and participant's name
- official team list provided by the league if the club and participant has been registered with England Basketball through us.
This has not changed.
2- The handbook states that a player must have played at least half of the fixtures during the regular season. This regulation was introduced to prevent clubs bringing players from senior professional clubs to compete in the play-offs. We believed this was against the spirit of the league and fairness. Due to having a more robust
registration system we are able to trace all the players and clubs registered. We have also audited the scoresheets and it appears that around 5 players are registered with other teams (none of them in senior national league) out of about 300 registrations this season. Some clubs have registered players that never played for different reasons.
I can confirm that all players that have competed in the regular season can compete in the play-offs. If any club is planning to bring new players, the club secretary will need to notifiy us first in order to register their players.
Good luck in
play-offs
