Each year, the Trichotillomania Learning Center (TLC), the nonprofit
organization that provides answers, advocacy and outreach to the
scientific and therapist community, holds a conference. This year is
particularly important because TLC is celebrating its 20th anniversary
as an organization! I am eternally grateful to TLC because it gave me
the courage to start this support group after I attended a TLC event
in 2006. And, many of you found this group through TLC's user-
friendly website.
I hope you will join me at the conference in San Francisco from April
29-May 1, 2011. I will be attending. Meeting others with trich and
skin picking from around the country, along with the scientists and
therapists who specialize in this area is truly an amazing experience
and will change you for the better - I promise! The fee is reduced
through February 28 and TLC also offers payment plans.
To view the conference agenda, costs and other details, visit
www.trich.org.
The conference this year will not only have up-to-date information
about trich, but it will also celebrate the past 20 years of TLC's
history and evolution as an organization.
Also, I am planning to put $50 toward advertising on the outside of a
bus in the San Francisco area to promote awareness of trich and skin
picking, and to promote the conference. One ad costs $200. I'd like
to pool funds from our support group members and donate an ad or two
from the Dallas support group. If you'd like to participate, please
bring a check to the meeting payable to TLC or send your check
directly to TLC at 207 McPherson Street, Suite H, Santa Cruz, CA
95060-5863 and mark it "bus advertising-Dallas support group." Any
amount is welcome, and will help to spread the message.
Let me know if you have any questions I can answer about the
conference or the advertising initiative.
Let's use this message board to exchange ideas about how else we can
help make the 20th anniversary celebration a success.
Thanks,
Susannah
