Software Development Engineer – Search and Personalization (Mobile, Android, iOS)

The team who revolutionized ecommerce with “Customers Who Bought Also Bought” is looking for an exceptional engineer to join a small, elite team. This team will make the Kindle a uniquely personal device. You will be responsible for building major components of this unique charter.

This role requires outstanding programming skills, experience building mobile applications on Android and/or iOS, a passion for user experience and design, and having demonstrated ability optimizing for app fluidity, battery life, and latency. You will work closely with Kindle
[ATR2] and other cross-functional teams. The ideal candidate exhibits strong ownership, user-oriented thought, with a record of delivering results.

 

Basic Qualifications

  • BS in Computer Science or greater
  • 2+ years software development experience
  • Outstanding programming ability with Java and/or Objective C
  • Delivered features for at least one Android or iOS app in the Play Store, Apple App Store, or Amazon Appstore
  • Experience with build and deployment tools (e.g., Apache Ant)
  • Strong front-end prototyping skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years commercial software development experience
  • Lead developer on at least one Android or iOS app in the Play Store, Apple App Store, or Amazon Appstore
  • Expertise working with third-party and/or open source APIs
  • Comfortable with front-end prototyping or mocking with HTML / CSS / Javascript
  • Experience in a startup environment
  • Senior Software Engineer-level or higher in a previous job
