Tim,
I tried to send this legislative update through the Dakota southeast google groups email, but it came back undeliverable. Below is what was sent out to the group. Let me know if you have any questions.
I wanted to provide you with a quick update on recent legislative happenings.
Senate Bill 2225 – The No Trespass bill has failed the Senate (17-28). This means that status quo will remain with regard to open access for hunting on unposted lands.
House Bill 1017 – The NDGFD Budget was amended from $77,231,739 to $83,260,364 and came out of committee with a DO PASS recommendation. A well-funded Game and Fish Department is good for sportsmen and women as well as for wildlife.
SB 2318 – Pheasant Opener – Would require the pheasant hunting season opener to open between the 1st Saturday of October and no later than October 12th. This bill has passed the Senate.
We’re still keeping an eye on any activity relating to the Outdoor Heritage Fund and will keep you updated as items arise.
