Toinstall the drivers you would need to execute an MSIEXEC command and not through a standard installation, see the Customize the installation section below to install it on a server OS:
The Intel graphics must be updated before updating the AMD graphics. Go to Intel driver support and use their driver update tool. Install all updates it finds in addition to the graphics driver. Then install the correct AMD driver.. -radeon-hd/amd-radeon-hd-7000m-series/amd-radeon-hd-7730m
@pshort94 Hi, I have the same laptop but with i7-3612QM CPU @ 2.10GHz processor. I have disabled the Radeon 7730M from the device manager last year after it complete froze during the last update. I have tried to re-install more than 10 different older versions to rollback and tried all the combinations (first clean up all the drivers, then Intel HD 4000, then Radeon; first Radeon, then re-install Intel, in safe mode, in normal mode etc.) but never got AMD work again. It's a very painful process as you have to force shut down with power button, boot to safe mode, clean with DDU (Display Driver Uninstaller), etc. So I gave up and disabled it completely, running it on only integrated 4000 which practically rendered the laptop useless. Dell's support is famously a joke and non-existent. Have you found any solution?
I'm 'glad' to hear it's not just me. However, sadly, I gave up after my last message. Fortunately for me, these days, my laptop doesn't get used for anything intense in 3D, so I can get away without it, but it annoys me knowing that it doesn't work, and that I'm screwed if I ever do need it.
I'll just throw this bit of information in the pot, but I don't think it will help with your problem. The error message "Stop code: DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL" is something I have seen in years past when there was a problem with one of the memory sticks in a desktop system. If, during an install process, you get to a certain point and the system locks up, that could be a memory issue. If there are accessible memory SODIMMs in your laptop, you might try swapping them or at least re-inserting them into their memory sockets.
For a while, I had felt the exact same frustration of knowing that it doesn't work, but then I had some sort of closure concluding that the AMD card physically completed its lifespan and that both AMD and Dell are brands not to be purchased under any circumstances with no basic customer and technical support whatsoever.
I have a quite old DELL Inspiron 7520 with a dedicated AMD ATI Radeon 7730M GPU, but I can't get it to work under Arch. I have installed the xf86-video-ati driver and mesa too. I've also created a kernel parameter in /etc/modprobe.d/radeon.conf, which contains this line I found on the wiki: options radeon si_support=0. after regenerating the initramfs the GPU still doesn't seem to work and the system runs on the integrated Intel Graphics.
I am still kind of new to this stuff and Arch in general, so sorry if I am asking for something obvoius or something, that is clearly on the wiki, but I couldn't figure it out.
Thanks in advance!
For a month now my Verizon 7730L MiFi regularly downloads, "installs", and restarts but following three auto restarts it informs me that "There was a problem updating your Jetpack MiFi 7730L. No changes were made." Then the unit proceeds to work pretty much normally. As I said this has been happening for a month now and I am forced to go through this process every time I shut down and restart so I can guess that this updtat failure has occured at least two dozen times or more.
About two weeks ago I called and talked to a tech rep and they could not find a solution and that the update was not critical so she just left me with status quo. Today I had to chat online since the MiFi decided to freeze as it was starting up. The touch display would not respond nor would it shut down using the power reset button. The online troubleshooter said to pull the batter AFTER it was powered down so I had to initiat the chat to get it working. The tech said it would not hurt to pull the battery while it was powered up but frozen so following that direction that's what I did. after replacing the battery and restarting I logged into it from my computer and backed up the configuration, performed a factory reset and once again attempted to insall the update only to receive the same failed results. I then restored the backup configuration and I am back to business with a MiFi that won't upate but will continually attempt to.
JECARTERSR, I do apologize that you have had these issues with your device. I certainly want to get to the bottom of why this device will not update properly. If the device is still under warranty then it can be replaced free of charge, however, we would have to access your account. This would need to be done in private here or over the phone.

In the past Novatel would give us an option to install firmware updates from a PC. Eventually they migrated over to OTA (Over the Air) updates. Now it appears the option to update via PC is no longer an option.
If the device continues to fail after attempting both update options in the article then you will have to get Verizon to send you a new one with the proper firmware already loaded for you. If there is warranty remaining this should not give you much trouble, just reference your previous troubleshooting calls to skip the basics and move onto hardware replacement.
CoreyM_VZW -- Please contact me regarding this issue; like oldSarge98, my device will not update under any circumstances. Probably unlike him, though, I own my device outright (bought a few months ago), so I am having difficulty getting Verizon Tech Support to assist me with this -- even though it is still under warranty and has done this from "Day 1".
I have attempted 30+ factory resets via the Administrative web app, and 10+ "hard" resets via the reset button in the battery compartment. The update has been downloaded over 50 times, but fails to install.
3) The device shows a progress bar, and it begins to fill with green from left to right, but never goes more than 1/10th of the way before clearing the green. The caption on the progress bar is "Step 1 of 2";
Being an Android developer, it is obvious to me that the update file is corrupted, fails a hardware compatibility test, or fails to find the "Step 2" entry point during the update due to an internal hardware issue.
Contact VZW directly and confirm what kinds of options there are for this model. Based on my previous post it would seem that there is only an OTA option for updating firmware. That means its up to Verizon to replace the Jetpack if it ends up bricking or is unable to complete the firmware update process.
Thanks Paul,
I followed the procedure from mchandler in the thread, selecting the XPS Document writer as default in my Windows settings.
Now I get full options in the dialogue box, I only have to switch the name of the printer to my HP 7730 and it works.
Many thanks.
Finally and this is the biggest problem, whatever version of CUDA and drivers I use (CUDA 10, 410.93, CUDA 9, 390.XX) our app that uses CUDA keeps freezing the whole OS in the CUDA part it seems. The only solution is to hard reset the computer.
For deployment on laptops, the general recommendation is to get your GPU driver from the laptop manufacturer. Use the latest one. And use whatever CUDA toolkit installer is compatible with that driver, while deselecting the option to install the driver.
Hello, I am also suffering the same issue with my Precision 7730. I am not able to use GPU. I have reported it here:
