QuickBooks Online (QBO) is the cloud-based, online version of accounting software provided through a monthly subscription pricing plan. Small business plans include Simple Start, Plus, and Advanced. The QBO Self-Employed plan is offered to freelancers. QuickBooks Online offers upgrade options and integrates with many add-on third-party apps to increase functionality.

Both QuickBooks Online and QuickBooks Desktop users can apply for optional QuickBooks Payments processing by Intuit Merchant Services. IMS charges transaction fees and other fees for accepting customer credit card, debit card, online invoice, and ACH payments. The sellers receive customer payments in their designated merchant bank account.

QuickBooks Online is the cloud-based, mobile-friendly version of the popular accounting software. It began as a "light" counterpart of QuickBooks Desktop but quickly evolved into a sophisticated version in itself.

Mobility and ease of use are the primary focus of the online edition. Thanks to cloud computing, businesses can manage their finances anywhere in the world using any device they choose. QuickBooks Online is chock-full of accounting features that make it incredibly easy to use, even for non-accountants.

QuickBooks Online is an affordable, flexible, and scalable option for small to mid-sized businesses that prefer a cloud-based accounting solution.

QuickBooks Online has more third-party integrations than its desktop counterpart. It connects with over 750 popular business tools and platforms, simplifying and automating many accounting tasks. It also has a much simpler connection procedure, letting you use third-party applications directly online.

In addition to having more connectors available in the app store, QuickBooks Online integrations cover a wider range of business needs and offer several payment gateway alternatives.

In contrast, the majority of QuickBooks Desktop integrations are geared at ecommerce. It provides limited payment channels, making it difficult for modern merchants to accept invoice payments online.

Even though it has fewer options available, QuickBooks Desktop still integrates with over 200 third-party applications, making it one of the most interconnected desktop software solutions.

QuickBooks Enterprise is a desktop-based product. This means you download and install the product and can host it locally on your own servers. Many businesses, particularly those who deal with personally identifiable information (PII) prefer this extra layer of security.

The main difference between QuickBooks Desktop and Online is that QuickBooks Desktop is desktop-based, while QuickBooks Online, you guessed it, is a cloud-based software. This means that accessing your data with QuickBooks Online is easier and more convenient as all you need is a device with an internet connection.

Its highest-tiered plan is the Advanced option, which costs $100 per month for the first three months, then $200 per month after that. It includes up to 25 users, business analytics and insights, manage employee expenses, customize access by role, exclusive app integrations, a dedicated account team, on-demand online training, automate processes and tasks and restore company data from backups.

We currently use SS for all of our project estimating. We love it. We are currently exploring using SS to also produce our job cost estimate versus actual reports. (construction company). I see a couple of options. First, we can pursue a "one way" push utilizing zapier.com to auto entry into a spredsheet that could be uploaded into the above mentioned accounting software. The second option, and more desireable, is to have a "two way" sync utilizing the ODBC approach that QB allows. (I am still trying to verify if Xero.com allows ODBC) We curently QB desktop, but would like to move it the cloud. I realize I would need to upgrade our SS account to Enterprize.

I am comfortable with a one way push from xero to smartsheet. I currently have that set up with a quickbooks desktop and excel, but would prefer a cloud based approach with better collaboration than Exel offers. Can you reccomend a resource to find developers to develop this api conversation between xero or qbonline? SS would be my first priority.

The desktop version offers mostly the same features as QuickBooks Online. Even QuickBooks Desktop includes video tutorials, training options, and on-demand webinars. The setup process and running time is the same in both cases as well. Nevertheless, both the versions have long wait times for telephonic support access.

The online version offers integration with more than 500 third-party apps.
