Pipeline 2 v1.10.2 released

Dear all,

Version 1.10.2 of the DAISY Pipeline 2 project is now available for download. The following alternative packages are proposed:

Hi Romain

Thank you for the notice about the update. I updated to the latest version for Mac, and I still have the same error ("null") using the DTBook to EPUB3 script (with TTS enabled). I have LAME installed in the correct path. Any suggestions on what I'm doing wrong, or if this is a bug on your end? Thanks!

Hi Romain - 

Thank you for looking into this. After installing the latest version of Pipeline 2 (for Mac), other scripts also produce the same error message (and these scripts did work with the previous version of Pipeline 2). For example, I get the exact same error message when I run the DTBook to EPUB 3 (no TTS) script and the DAISY 3 to EPUB 3 script (TTS options enabled).

The last few lines of the error log are below.

First of all, Pipeline 2 currently has an issue with unclear error messages. We're working on fixing that. The error message nor the log file contains any useful information. The causes of the errors are not necessarily the same for the various conversions that you did even though it looks the same.

I've tried your example book and I came across this issue: https://github.com/daisy/pipeline/pull/516. This is a new issue since v1.10.2, so probably the reason why your conversions that used to work in the previous version stopped working.

After fixing this issue the conversion succeeded, so I don't know why your conversion was failing *before* the update to v1.10.2. Maybe ther is a problem on your side. Because right now there's so little information because of the incomplete error messages, I suggest we wait until the error message improvements are done, and then you try again with the latest version. Does that sound OK?

Thanks for looking into this. 2 things were happening for me:

1) DTBook to EPUB 3 with TTS script never worked in Pipeline 2 for me (in the previous or current versions). This is the script that I want and need to be able to use for my work. I don't know why this script continues to not work.

2) As a workaround, I was creating the DAISY 3 with audio using Pipeline 1 and converting to EPUB 3 with TTS (using the DAISY 3 to EPUB 3 script) in Pipeline 2 - this is the script that stopped working when I updated to Pipeline 2.  So, unfortunately, now I find myself in a situation where I can't create EPUB 3 with media overlays using either Pipeline 1 or 2.

I'm unclear from your message if DAISY 3 to EPUB 3 with TTS should now be working? I just tried this script again, but I still get that "error:null". 

Could you suggest what is the best way to create EPUB 3 with media overlays from a DTBook XML file right now?

We will make a bugfix release soon. After updating to that version the DAISY 3 to EPUB 3 script should work again, so you should be able to use your Pipeline 1 workaround again.

The DTBook to EPUB 3 script might or might not work for you. (It worked for me.) When the next bigger release (after the bugfix release) is out, you should try it again. If it still doesn't work then you'll at least get some more helpful error messages.
