Hi Daisy Team

1. the newst 64bit Daisy works much faster and without problems on a Win8.1 64bit, great!

2. are there suggestions with which parameter to start when you want to fit a crop to our experiment data set?

At the moment I try to fit default "Grass"
and I like to have
  • 2 times higher dry matter output
  • 4 times higher N yield (very small at grass default)
  • less root dieing over the vegetation period

Maybe there is a list of important parameters and the sequence in which you should look at it? It is very difficult with so many parameters to get a "optimal" parameterisation ;)

Best wishes

Christof

You need to find out why the grass doesn't give the expected yields. Look atthe harvest  and Crop Production outputs.  The three options are (in order of likelihood) water stress, nitrogen stress, or insufficient photosynthesis. The two first could very well relate to the water retention properties of the soil. The daisy.log file will give you some points on the retention curve and the hydraulic conductivity curves. Do these seem realistic to you? Especially for the B horizon, which is commonly the most important for crop growth.

Regards,

Per A.
