Joy from God

Read Hebrews 1:8-9

   "9 'You have loved what is right and hated what is wrong. That is why God, your God, anointed you, rather than your companions, with the oil of joy.' "

Observe

   Loving what is right did not lead directly to joy. There is a step in between in which God anoints you with joy. We do not get joy directly from any of our actions or thoughts; we get it directly from God.

   God sometimes chooses to give us joy in response to our attitude. And sometimes, God chooses to give us joy in spite of our attitude.

   But always, our joy comes from God's activity.
