Read Hebrews 7:12-19

   "19 Moses' Teachings couldn't accomplish everything that God required. But we have something else that gives us greater confidence and allows us to approach God."

Observe 

   Which is better? Approaching God through a priest? Or approaching God directly?

   When Israel reached Mt. Sinai, they were afraid to approach God directly. The priesthood came right after they asked Moses to be their intermediary with God. The Levitical priesthood was God's accommodation for the people's fear. It was never the ideal relationship. 

   Now we can approach God through Jesus Christ our Lord. Since Jesus is God, this is much more direct. Our sins and fears still had to be dealt with. But Jesus took care of that on the cross. 

   We are set!
