Purpose of Blessing

Read Hebrews 7:1-3

   "1 Melchizedek was king of Salem and priest of the Most High God. He met Abraham and blessed him when Abraham was returning from defeating the kings."

Observe 

   Because of his communication with God, Melchizedek blessed Abraham. Interesting that the blessing came after the battle and not before. Often the blessing of a god is sought before a battle to ensure victory. This blessing has a different goal because it came after the battle.

   What is the purpose of Melchizedek blessing Abraham?

   I do not know.
