Divine and Weak

Read Hebrews 5:1-3

   "2 The chief priest can be gentle with people who are ignorant and easily deceived, because he also has weaknesses."

Observe 

   Sometimes we think that the divinity of Jesus means he has no weaknesses. Surely, Jesus never fell down while learning to walk, for example. Surely, Jesus never accidentally hit his thumb when using Joseph's hammer.

   But this is an error. Jesus was human and he had human weaknesses, but without sin. That is the divine part: without sin.

   I think sometimes we want to dehumanize Jesus in order to feel better about the fact that Jesus did not sin, while we do. 

Do

   Ask God to help you to keep both Jesus' divinity and Jesus' humanity firmly in focus.
